Inside the Bermondsey studio

The studio is one room under a railway arch. When a train goes over, the pattern weights move about a centimetre to the left.

Everything we sample is made here before it is made anywhere. That is a slower way to work and it is the only way we have found to keep the gap between a drawing and a garment honest - you cannot argue with a first sample hanging in front of you.

The cutting table came from a tailoring house on Fashion Street that closed in 2011. It is nine feet of end-grain beech with a hollow worn into the left side by sixty years of someone standing in the same spot.

We keep it because it is a good table. We mention it because people ask what "atelier-led" is supposed to mean, and the honest answer is: there is a room, and the people who decide are in it.
